How can I access the service?

You need to have an annual, weekly or daily subscription to use BikeMi. Subscriptions can be purchased on the www.bikemi.it website, with the official BikeMi app and by calling the ATM Infoline +39 02 48607607 (occasional subscriptions only) or going to one of the six ATM Points. Payment cannot be made using prepaid credit cards or Bancomat. Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards are accepted. For further information visit the page “How can I subscribe”

Is the annual subscription active immediately?

Yes, it's active immediately! As soon as you purchase your annual subscription, you will receive an e-mail with temporary secret codes which will allow you to pick up bicycles. Within 15 days of subscribing you will receive a Welcome pack by post with your BikeMi card, instructions about the service and stations map. The BikeMi card must be activated via the website, official app, ATM Infoline or ATM Point. Activating the card means that temporary codes are immediately deactivated.

Fill in the data fields that are displayed. Click on “Pay” to save the change. At this point the update is complete and you can reuse the service immediately. How the Service Works

How do I pick up a bike?

If you have a BikeMi card, hold it close to the station reader. If you have temporary codes, enter them on the touch screen. Then select the kind of bike you want to use, traditional bike or pedelec. The screen will display the slot number for bike pick-up. You then have 30 seconds to pick up the bike. If for any reason the bike is not picked up (time out, damaged bike) the slot closes and you can immediately pick up another bike. If you have already picked up the bike and you notice a fault, for example, flat tyres, you must re-dock the bike. If you do this within three minutes you can immediately pick up a new bike. If you do this after three minutes, you have to wait five minutes.

Top

How do I return the bike?

To correctly return the bike follow these simple instructions: 1) check that the slot LED is green (if it is red, it cannot be used); 2) lift the handlebars and hook the pins under the basket into the special holes; 3) check that the bike is locked in; 4) to check everything is OK also place your BikeMi card near the reader and a displayed message will confirm bike return.

Top

How do you use a pedelec?

You use a pedelec the same way you use a traditional bike. The difference is that, as you pedal, the electric motor gives extra thrust making it easier to use. You can’t vary the power of the thrust and without pedalling you get no thrust at all. You can check the battery charge level via the LEDs on the handlebars.

Top

How long can I use the bike for?

For a maximum period of two hours. After two hours you will receive a penalty. Your subscription will be automatically cancelled at the third penalty. After 24 hours of consecutive use, a fine of €150.00 will be applied and your subscription automatically cancelled. For further information on charges, see the Rates page.

How late can I use BikeMi?

The service is operative 365 days a year from 7.00 am to 1.00 am. Outside of these hours you can only return a bike, not pick one up. In Spring/Summer the service hours may be extended for special events.

Other Information

When I place my BikeMi card near the service column or enter my user code and password, after I've returned the bike, the system won't let me pick up another bike. Why?

This may be because five minutes have not passed since the last bike return or the last bike you returned wasn’t hooked in correctly and so the system has not registered its return. To avoid inconvenience always follow this simple procedure: 1) check that the slot LED is green (if it is red, it cannot be used); 2) lift the handlebars and hook the pins under the basket into the special holes; 3) check that the bike is locked; 4) to check everything is OK also place your BikeMi card near the reader and a displayed message will confirm bike return.

Top

When does my responsibility for the bike end?

Remember that the service conditions of use specify that the user is responsible for the bike as soon as it is picked up from the station to when it is correctly hooked in at the original or another station.

Top

Does the bike have a lock?

BikeMi bikes have a chain and padlock, under the front basket. Remember that the bike shouldn‘t be left unguarded for more than a very short period. The bike sharing service differs from a simple bike hire service because the bikes are intended to be shared among multiple users throughout the day. The bike should be used for the time needed to reach your destination and then returned to be made available to other subscribers. If you then need another bike, you can pick another one up from the same station. So you can use the BikeMi service numerous times on the same day. The only thing we ask is that you don’t keep the bike for more than two consecutive hours because in this way the bike sharing concept wouldn't work as well.

The rack number where the member can take their bike from is displayed on the monitor. The adult must then pass their card over the station’s reader again and select a children’s bicycle. This procedure must be repeated for each bicycle taken out.

Top
